To be honest, I haven't seen any lions there.
But the lion's roar coming from the green mountains did seem to have occurred to the Portuguese colonisers who, having repeatedly emptied themselves of the terrifying sounds, timidly came ashore and named the country Sierra Leone.

Beach N2 is one of the most beautiful places in the country. It was the location for a Bounty - Paradise Delight advert that was popular in the 1990s.
Then, in 1991, one of Africa's most violent wars broke out here. A war for access to diamonds, the country's main treasure.

The film "Blood Diamond" with the heroic DiCaprio is just about that.
Walking on the beach you may be offered to buy a diamond, here this is a well-established illegal business. And funny that the diamond is real! Once you have bought it, the seller will immediately inform the customs (it is forbidden to export diamonds and is a serious crime) and they will arrest you on your departure... The proceeds for the "deal" are, of course, splited amongst themselves.

Now I can see where the real lions are sitting...)
